Our third annual Run for Reese/Jog for Jordan will be held on Saturday, October 8th at Shelter Number One at Tanglewood and will be directed by the Track Club. The 5k Run for Reese is held in memory of my friend's 13 month old who was diagnosed with a MPS disorder in August, 2002. Reese received an umbilical cord blood transplant later that year at Duke University later that year. His transplant was a success and he was 100% donor cells by his first birthday. Sadly due to his compromised immune system, he contracted pneumonia and passed away on March 10, 2003. The 1 mi. Jog for Jordan is in memory of a friend we made along Reese's transplant journey who passed away shortly before his second birthday last September. You can learn more about Jordan and Reese as well as their particular MPS disorders at www.caringbridge.org/il/jordan and www.caringbridge.org/nc/reesecup. MPS and ML disorders are caused by the body's inability to produce certain enzymes and presently there are no cures for these deadly disorders. Our run will raise much needed awareness and hopefully raise even more needed funds for the MPS Society to find a cure! You can register online at www.mpsrun.org |
