| new to area (lewisville) -- been killing myself (almost literally) looking for appropriate 5-10 mile, low-traffic, sidewalk- or at least shoulder-friendly roads for lewisville loop. aware of bike routes, see the dudes frequently on the roads, but wonder how many were killed along the way. studied the map, but don't know from south of 421. suggestions? |

| Do not know much about your area except the bike routes. If you can I would suggest running with a group that meets at the central YMCA in Winston-Salem on Sunset Blvd. This is also near a track at Hanes Park. Once you learn the routes you can run on your own on the days you want to be alone. Also, there is Salem Lake, near Winston-Salem State University, it is a seven mile loop of a dirt trail. |

I am in Lewisville as well and looking for someone to kick me out of the house and get back on a training track. I have a 5k route and also a long route (been a while, forget how long, but close to 10?) It includes some road, but only for about a mile and then sidewalk. Let me know if you are interested in meeting up.

I live in Lewisville as well and have trouble finding a safe place to run. I have a 5 mile route that starts near the Food Lion and continues down Shallowford Rd to Conrad Rd. Then back up Grapevine Rd to Pepperidge Rd and ends back at the Food Lion.
Shallowford Rd is not the most runner friendly road but it is close to my house. I only run there as a last resort due to the heavy traffic in the evenings and the poor shoulders. I used to run at the town sqaure and down the sidewalks but that gets boring very quickly. Let me know if you find another good route.
