Can anyone provide a map of the Salem Lake Greenway trail and what the mile markers represent. I found going counterclockwise around the lake that there are some fixed TCTC markers for the first 3 miles. Then there are various orange painted trees with numbers and then there appears to be city signage with mileage markers (which don't agree with the TCTC signs) and finally large red numbered signs which I have no idea what they represent!!!! I'm starting my training regiment for a possbile first marathon and working up long runs would be nice to know what's up! Thanks. Keith |

| I know that the orange numbers are painted on from the Salem Lake 30k. They are accurate and measured from a starting line near the shelter at Salem Lake. Check out the 30k route on this website for the course. I do not know where the other numbers are measured from nor if they are accurate. Good luck. What race are you aiming for? |

The TCTC will be placing new mile markers with a map on the trails in the next 45-60 days. They will start at the trail head. There used to be 6 signs (the silver ones) that started at the trail head, but the last 3 were stolen. The orange markers start from the end of the fence near the shelter. |

Hi, In the meantime before the new signs go up, I can tell you what I use for approximate the mile markers on the far side of the lake. Mile 4 is a little past the power lines. Mile 5 is the big rock that looks like a boat launch. Mile 6 is the wooden bridge in the middle of the long jetty before you reach the dam. I am not sure that these are perfectly accurate, but they are close enough for me. Good luck with the training and I'll see you out there. Patrick |

Patrick, You are pretty close on miles 4, 5,and 6. There is a tree on the left just past the power lines that has a yellow stripe painted on it. That is mile 4. There is another tree that has yellow stripe on it just before you get to the rock that is mile 5. Mile 6 is as you go off the wooden bridge. These locations are where the signs were before they were stolen. Not much different than what you had, but mile 4-5 will be a little faster now. Hope this helps. |
