The race will have a "gun start" and chip timed finish.  This means that all participants will have the same start time, and that the finish time will be recorded when the runner crosses the finished line.   Timing services will be provied by Ultimate Race Management.

Eligibility

Both races will start and finish in the parking area near WFU's BB&T Football Stadium. From Business I-40, exit 5C to Cherry Street, north to University Parkway, turn east on Deacon Boulevard, and north into the stadium parking lot.  

 ^{2013 Entry Fees}

 5K - $25.00 until June 30^th; $30.00 until July 19^th ; $35 on July 20th (includes race T-shirt for first 1,000 entries) 

You will not incur a service fee for the 5K race if you register online with Active.com.

 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk - $5.00 through race day (no T-shirt); $10 (includes T-shirt).   Add $4 for online registration for the Fun Run.

 Online Registration Closing Date: Wednesday, July 17, 2013 @ 5:00 PM.  Late registration will available as stated below.

Cash or checks only for late registration.  Credit card payments will NOT be accepted for late registration on Friday and Saturday.

Weather Policy

If the races should be cancelled, delayed or postponed for any reason outside the direct control of the Race Director (inclement weather; local, state or national emergency; or conditions on the race course), refunds will not be given, but arrangements will be made for participants to pick up their shirts.

Lodging Information

Courtyard by Marriott is within walking distance of the BTH race.  They are located at 3111 University Parkway in Winston-Salem and can be reached at 336.727.1277. 

Courses

5K USATF Certified (NC11048PH) , USATF Sanctioned, RRCA sanctioned, course is predominately flat and fast. Traffic will be monitored.

1 Mile Fun Run/Walk - The course is flat. Traffic will me monitored.

Entry Fee Include

T-Shirt for the first 1,000 entries.

A bonus prize of $200 will be offerred for setting a new course record.

Awards Ceremony

The awards presentation will be held immediately following the race.

 NC-USATF Prize Money: $5,000

Open: (Men and Women)  1st - $1,000, 2nd - $500, 3rd - $200, 4th - $150, 5th - $125, 6th - $100, 7th - $75, 8th - $50

Masters: (Men and Women): 1st $150, 2nd $100, 3rd $50

Grand Masters: (Men and Women): 1st $75, 2nd $50

No double dipping.  If someone places in two categories, the awarded placement will be the one where they win the most money. 

To be eligible for USATF awards, athletes must be a current USATF Member, a 12 month resident of NC, and must pre-register.   USATF Championship entry deadline is July 17, 2013. USATF participants will be posting the Thursday before the race to allow time for membership verification.

Age Group Awards 

Age Group Awards will win a Beat the Heat Glass, provided for the top 3 finishers (excluding USATF winners) in the following age groups.

14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over

Beat the Heat will not have the WAVA Age-Graded competition in 2013.

Fun Run Awards

Trophies for the top Fun Run finishers.

Finisher awards for all one mile Fun Run participants.

Awards presentation held immediately following the race and will not be mailed.

Make checks payable to Twin City Track Club.  Mail-in entries must be received by the Wednesday before the race.

On-line registration closes the Wednesday evening before the race. USATF Championship entry deadline is July 18, 2012.
